"The Immortal Game" of chess, played in London on June 21, 1851, between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky, ended after Anderssen sacrificed a bishop, two rooks, and his queen to deliver checkmate in 23 moves. Below is a record of this in algebraic notation:
