The computer that discovered M32582657 was commwd-102--04l. It was in Wood 102, a computer lab of 20 computers for the Department of Communication at CMSU. Coincidentally, the computer that discovered M30402457 was commwd-102--07l, also in Wood 102!

Every Mersenne number less than this one has been checked once for primality by GIMPS (by December 25, 2010), but not twice. Since single checks have a relatively high error rate, this may not be the 44th Mersenne prime by size. We will remove the question mark when GIMPS completes checking all lower exponents twice and comparing the residues.

Verification data:

The Top 5000 Primes is a list for proven primes only. In order to maintain the integrity of this list, we seek to verify the primality of all submissions.  We are currently unable to check all proofs (ECPP, KP, ...), but we will at least trial divide and PRP check every entry before it is included in the list.
