GIMPS has discovered a new largest known prime number: 282589933-1 (24,862,048 digits)

+ The largest known Mersenne prime exponent whose digits are all odd. Bryant Tuckerman found M(19937) using an IBM 360/91 computer in 1971. The number 19937 is also a circular prime.

+ The commonly used variant of Mersenne Twister, MT19937, is a pseudorandom number generator designed to have a period of 2^19937-1.
