GIMPS has discovered a new largest known prime number: 282589933-1 (24,862,048 digits)

+ The product of first eight positive even numbers minus 1, i.e., 2*4*6*8*10*12*14*16-1, is prime. Note that we can find primes of this type, using the form 2^n*n!-1, where n is the number of first even numbers. The previous such primes are for n = 2, 3, 4. [Loungrides]
