GIMPS has discovered a new largest known prime number: 2^{82589933}1 (24,862,048 digits) A prime made up of 8s, 9s, and the number 23704918 in the center. Note that if you type 23704918 into a calculator, then turn the calculator upside down, it (sort of) looks as if the words 'BIG HOLES' are spelled, which here refers to the holes in the digits 8 and 9  two numbers used to make up "Holey primes."
