Richard E. Crandall is director of the Center for Advanced Computation, Reed College, Portland, Oregon. He is the discoverer of the irrational-base discrete weighted transform (IBDWT) that is now used in Mersenne searches to halve the required FFT lengths for Lucas-Lehmer squaring. He is currently co-authoring a book with Carl Pomerance: 'Primes: a computational perspective.' Dr. Crandall is the also the founder of Perfectly Scientific, Inc.
