GIMPS has discovered a new largest known prime number: 2^{82589933}1 (24,862,048 digits) Single Curio View: (Seek other curios for this number) In the 19th century, Camille Armand Jules Marie, better known as the "Prince de Polignac," missed the fact that 127 is not an odd number that is the sum of a power of two and a prime. Andy Edwards coined the name "obstinate numbers" to describe such integers.
